Our Creator’s Sabbath
Much is written about the Sabbath, yet the world mostly neglects this weekly appointed day. Elohim’s Word is final. His Word declares there is no God beside Him. Mankind has drifted, creating their own gods, bending their knees by following edicts declared by those who claim to be clergy. The Sabbath day was formed at the end of Yahweh’s creation. He proclaimed a day of rest called the Sabbath. Elohim saw beyond the heavens, all the wondrous living creatures; every cell and every molecule was pristine.
“And Elohim saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good” (Genesis 1:31 RSB).
Who was there beside Him? He is one with Messiah and His Holy Spirit. Elohim alone is the painter, architect, sculptor, builder and designer. Dare we take a sacred day such as the Sabbath away from our Creator? Do we have this authority? The answer is no. No human is entitled to do so.
The concept of equality comes to the forefront among all humans when we observe the seventh day. Humans have been given the ability to observe choices. Following and choosing Yah’s instructions brings life.
Do we treat each individual fairly? Justice in the courts of man has failed many times. Do you have respect for others in this world? The Torah teaches humane treatment, impartiality, and reverence. Man has wandered from this type of behavior towards each other. The message of Moshe/Moses and the prophets continue to echo, as does the message of our Messiah. Yahushua proclaimed uncompromising love.
So, what does the Sabbath day teach us? The answer is equality. We are all created in the image of our Creator. How can I justify I am elite? If I observe the Sabbath, a day set apart by Yah, I become equal to a small child on this day. The wealthy and the poor are also equal. How about the foreigner and those in their native land? All become equal on the Sabbath. On this day, we are all equalized; one day a week, humans created after His likeness, all in unison, all in a state of equivalence.
If Messiah is truly your King, then He is more than your Savior. Yahushua, our Creator, became a servant to win us for eternity.
Yahushua (Jesus), our prime example, observed the commandments and observed the Sabbath.
“And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read (Luke 4:16 (RSB).
The Gentiles, who are non-Jews, also observed the Sabbath and learned the teachings of the Torah.
“And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath” (Acts 13:42 RSB).
The whole city observed the Sabbath.
“And the next Sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of Elohim” (Acts 13:44 RSB).
Jews and Greeks observed the Sabbath as Sha’ul/Paul exhorted the gospel.
“And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks (Acts 18:4 RSB).
The end-time Beast (Satan) has changed times and laws, past and present. The prophet Daniel foretold in scripture why people today disobey Elohim’s laws.
“And he shall speak great words against the highest, and shall wear out the saints of the highest, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time” (Daniel 7:25 RSB).
“For rebellion is the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of Yahweh” (I Samuel 15:23 RSB).
Do you observe the changed laws of the Beast? Yahweh, changes not.
Wouldn’t you rather observe Messiah’s laws (Torah) and behold His Glory?

Is the Sabbath a tradition or a Jewish custom?
Answer: Neither a tradition nor a Jewish custom. The Sabbath is the seventh day of the week instituted by the Creator Himself at the time of creation. No human being can change this Day of Rest!
Genesis 2:1-3 | Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day, Elohim ended the work he had made, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And Elohim blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which Elohim created and made. People who feared God observed Yahweh’s decree before the first Hebrew man ever existed. Obviously, Adam and Eve communed with God, pleasing Him until their rebellion when HaSatan/The Adversary got the better of them. The scriptures record that Abraham observed The Commandments of Yah before Moshe (Moses) received them from Mount Sinai. There is a pattern of Yah’s people in compliance with His Commandments. Till the end of time, Yahushua’s followers will continue to observe our creator’s Sabbath! Rev.14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of Yahweh and the faith of Yahshua. The faith of Yahushua is the Torah, which is the commandments of Yah. (for a more detailed study and understanding of “Torah,” go to Torah on this website) Rev. 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments that they may have right to the tree of life and enter through the gates into the city. The assembly of the Messiah is not to be led away by the predominate grace message or laws and rules enacted by so-called men who lay claim to leadership and have a following. The laws of Yah have not changed. Only the sacrificial laws and the death penalty has been erased by Messiah for those who follow in His footsteps. The followers of Messiah will lay claim “that they may have the right to the tree of life“ because they love Yahushua so much they follow His word! Believers who walk in the light of Messiah have eternal life and will be rewarded with a new heavenly body when Yahushua appears in the clouds of glory upon His return! Colossians 22:20-22 Wherefore if ye be dead with Messiah from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?

Why has the Sabbath day been so neglected by so many professing believers in Yahushua/Jesus?
Answer: Lack of studying the Word for themselves is one culprit. Another is relying on traditional religious norms without questioning scriptural authority.
Study the scriptures to find Truth; Yah our Father changes not! Man continually changes with every whim.
Hebrews 13:8 | Yahushua, our Messiah is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Did one man change the course of the Sabbath Day? Answer: Millions throughout time, including our present, have followed the decree of this one man’s religious law. He disregarded the Fourth Commandment and tossed it aside like most people today. When Emperor Constantine I—a pagan sun-worshipper—came to power in A.D. 313, he legalized Christianity and made the first Sunday-keeping law. His infamous Sunday enforcement law of March 7, A.D. 321 reads: “On the venerable Day of the Sun, let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed.” (Codex Justinianus 3.12.3, trans. Philip Schaff, History of the Christian Church, 5th ed. (New York, 1902), 3:380, note 1.) The Roman Papacy officially confirmed the Sunday law. The Council of Laodicea in A.D. 364 decreed, “Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday but shall work on that day; but the Lord’s day they shall especially honor, and, as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day. If, however, they are found Judaizing, they shall be shut out from Christ” (Strand, op. cit., citing Charles J. Hefele, A History of the Councils of the Church, 2 [Edinburgh, 1876] 316). Cardinal Gibbons, in Faith of Our Fathers, 92nd ed., p. 89, freely admits, “You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we [the Catholic Church] never sanctify.” The Catholic Church claims that “the church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact” (Catholic Record of London, Ontario, Sept 1, 1923). These are shocking admissions. One day, we will all stand and give account to our Creator for our practices.
