Gezarah

Leviticus 16: 21-22 RSB, And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat. They shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness: And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

The old covenant standard of practice was to place the sins upon a live goat and then set it loose while the other goat suffered the loss of life for the sins of Israel. The live goat, who became the scapegoat, carried the sins away to wander throughout the wilderness to be forgotten forever. Imagine if your sins could be carried away and forgotten to a land never to be revisited by you or anyone. The scapegoat is that picture. This scene occurs when we sincerely repent of all our wrongdoings toward our fellow man and our Creator.

Psalms 103: 12 RSB, “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”

Gezarah means a land not inhabited, a wilderness; more importantly, it is a cut-off land. Gezarah comes from the Hebrew root word gazar, defined as cut off, uninhabited. As the scapegoat went, our sins went also.

Isaiah 53: 8, “He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? For he was cut off from the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.”

Isaiah 53 is the most descriptive picture of our Jewish Messiah. He became our sacrificial lamb, but also, significantly, the scapegoat that carried our sins to a land that is cut off. No one can go there. Never feel guilty; your sins are gone, and they are excluded forever. They are cut off in the land of Gezarah.

This is your moment in time to plead your repentance. The Father has given a willing Son; He is ready to take your past and leave all the wrongs you have ever committed, leaving them in a land cut off, never to be remembered. This is His promise according to His Word.

Yahushua, I believe in your sacrifice as the Lamb of Yahweh. I also believe that you are the scapegoat for all mankind, including myself. Take my sins to the land of Gezarah, my sins never to be visited again. Cover me with the new covenant contract that you ratified for me, with your shed blood. Deliver me from all that is unclean. Help me to walk pure and holy. Fill me with your precious Holy Spirit and place within me a hunger for your Word. Thank you, Father, for your Son Yahushua. I praise you to the highest, my savior and King. Amein.

Please read all of Isaiah 53 and begin reading the New Covenant as the Holy Spirit will guide you. Pray for the fellowship of like-minded believers.

Isaiah 44:22 NCV, “I have swept away your sins like a big cloud; I have removed your sins like a cloud that disappears into the air. Come back to me because I saved you.”
